Opening Prayer

Text Box: An opening prayer is a way to invite God’s presence at your ceremony.
For non-religious or civil ceremonies, the opening prayer can be omitted.  In Religious non-Christian ceremonies, a prayer can be used that only uses the name “God” and not the name “Jesus.”  For Christian ceremonies, whether a particular denomination or non-denominational, the name “Jesus” can be included.  The fourth prayer below is an excerpt from a religious non-Christian prayer used when a new family is created because the spouses have children from previous marriages.
